Communications is an important job aboard the ship, allowing the crew to unlock various powerful bonuses. It is done from the Communications Center on the Bridge.
- Most functions of the Comms Center are reserved for the
Communications Officer, save for improving the signal link. - You must be clean to use the terminal.
- The
Hacker Kit does not allow you to bypass use restrictions on the Comms Center.

The Antenna in the Engine Room has a passive effect on communications:
- If it is broken, the cost of all Comms actions raises by 1
. - If it is upgraded with the
Spatial Wave Radar, signal link progress is doubled.
Link with Sol
A link with Sol must be established before the
Communications Officer can do their work.
- The signal starts at 0% at the start of the game.
- The first time the link is restored, all crewmates gain +3
.
(Comms Center) - any clean crewmate can contribute, once per day per crewmate.
- Each attempt increases signal quality by 4%.
- 6% when a
Radio Expert is present, and 8% when you are one yourself.
- 6% when a
- The higher the signal quality, the greater one's chances are of successfully establishing contact.
- While contact is established, this action becomes inaccessible (replaced by the text "Connection Established!"
Contact with Sol can be lost in the following ways:
- The Comms Center breaks.
- Decoding certain Xyloph DB signals.
- Random chance when the
Microwave is used. - Randomly during cycle change.
TODO: Is this correct?
Without an active link, the Comms Center's other functions are blocked. It is therefore important that the crew help restore it as soon as possible.
Xyloph Database
(Comms Center)
Allows the
Communications Officer to decode data received from the Xyloph space station. Performing this action instantly decodes a random database entry (out of 12).
Main article: Xyloph DB.
Rebel Bases
(Comms Center)
A rebel base attempts to contact the Daedalus every day starting from Mush selection, always on the same cycle. Each rebel base provides a unique bonus to the entire crew if its signal is decoded.
Beware: missing a base will forfeit its bonus permanently!
Main article: Rebel Bases.
NERON Updates
Completing NERON updates allows the crew to unlock random Projects from the available pool.
NERON starts the game at v1.00:
- 1 is the version number.
- 00 represents the percentage progress toward the next version.
The current NERON version is also visible from NERON's Core in the Nexus.
(Comms Center)
- Randomly increases NERON update progression.
- The progress achieved per action decreases with each successive NERON version. It follows this formula: progression between 1% and 100 (aléatoire uniforme) ÷ version number, rounded to the next highest value[1]
TODO: Need better translation of the formula
- The progress achieved per action decreases with each successive NERON version. It follows this formula: progression between 1% and 100 (aléatoire uniforme) ÷ version number, rounded to the next highest value[1]
- At 100%, the NERON version increases by 1, the % resets to 0, and a random NERON Project is randomly completed from the list of projects never proposed in the Nexus.
NERON updates will no longer be possible when the project pool is fully exhausted (aka, when all projects have either been completed, or proposed and skipped.
Trading
Traveling merchant ships may offer trades to the ship. Though any crewmate can respond, better trades are offered if a
Diplomat is present on the Bridge.
Main article: Merchants.
