Dirtiness is a status commonly caused by taking certain actions. It is represented with a public icon:
Dirty.
Protection
Wearing the
Apron or having the
OCD skill generally prevents you from getting dirty (with a few exceptions).
Causes
The following events have a chance of making you dirty according to a defined probability.[1]
The
Apron and the
OCD skill prevent dirtiness in all of the following cases.

Extra-Dirty
The
Apron and the
OCD skill do not protect against dirtiness caused by the following actions:
- Extracting a
spore (for the
Mush) - Using the
Jar of Alien Oil - Being affected by
Slimetrap - Being affected by
Massive Mushification
Additionally, they will not protect you from:
- Dirtiness caused by an Expedition, which has a 15% chance of occurring when the expedition ends[2] (can be prevented by finishing
Convenient Sink) - Dirtiness caused by
Diseases:
- Catching
Gastro-enteritis - Vomiting from
Gastro-enteritis ,
Flu ,
Food Poisoning , or
Acid Reflux
- Catching
- Vomiting caused by
Disfunctional Liver
Getting Clean

The only way to remove dirtiness is to in the Dorms.
- Holding the
Soap or
Super Soaper reduces the cost by 1
.
Consequences
Due to security concerns,
NERON forbids dirty players from:
- Working on Research
- Working on NERON Projects
- Analyzing planets at the AstroTerminal
- Using the Communications Consule
- Grafting Plants (while this is not forbidden, it will kill the plant)
- Calculating the location of Eden
| Dirtiness does not prevent you from accessing relevant terminals, but you cannot interact with their contents. |
Dirty players are not forbidden from:
- Repairing PILGRED.
- Moving the ship with the Navigation terminal
- Accessing BIOS and changing NERON's settings
- Doing the thing
