Dirtiness

Disgusting... You're filthy. (Not like that. Although...)

This message appears when a player becomes dirty. It is always private.

Dirtiness is a status commonly caused by taking certain actions. It is represented with a public icon: Dirty.

Protection

Wearing the Apron or having the OCD skill generally prevents you from getting dirty (with a few exceptions).

Causes

The following events have a chance of making you dirty according to a defined probability.

The Apron and the OCD skill prevent dirtiness in all of the following cases.

Eating	Cook: 25% Express Cook: 5% Taking Coffee from the the Coffee Machine: 5% Consuming any consumable (ration, coffee, drugs…): 15%
Combat	Attacking with bare hands: 25% Attacking with the Knife: 25% Torturing (with Torturer): 15% Operating on a serious injury: 25% Using the Spore Sucker: 25%
Maintenance	Sabotage: 25% Sabotage a door (Doorman): 25% Repair: 25% (even if the attempt fails) Dismantle: 25% Assemble a Blueprint: 25% Upgrade a Drone: 25% Remove a Camera: 5% Install a Camera: 10% Reinforce equipment: 50% Renovate a Patroller: 25% Snoop (Scrapper): 50%
Healing	Self-heal with bandages: 5% Heal: 5% Self-heal: 5%
Gardening	Water: 15% Treat: 15% Graft: 30%
Participation	Extinguishing a fire by hand (Firefighter): 10% Participating in research: 15% Participate in PILGRED: 25%
Misc	Extract or insert fuel: 15% Check the Combustion Chamber: 5% Open a Space Capsule: 25% Activating COUP! (Politician): 50% Self-operate: 100%

Extra-Dirty

The Apron and the OCD skill do not protect against dirtiness caused by the following actions:

• Extracting a spore (for the Mush)
• Using the Jar of Alien Oil
• Being affected by Slimetrap
• Being affected by Massive Mushification

Additionally, they will not protect you from:

• Dirtiness caused by an Expedition, which has a 15% chance of occurring when the expedition ends (can be prevented by finishing Convenient Sink)
• Dirtiness caused by Diseases:
  • Catching   Gastro-enteritis  
  • Vomiting from   Gastro-enteritis  ,   Flu  ,   Food Poisoning  , or   Acid Reflux  
• Vomiting caused by   Disfunctional Liver  

Getting Clean

A Shower

The only way to remove dirtiness is to 2  Shower in the Dorms.

• Holding the Soap or Super Soaper reduces the cost by 1 .

Consequences

Due to security concerns, NERON forbids dirty players from:

• Working on Research
• Working on NERON Projects
• Analyzing planets at the AstroTerminal
• Using the Communications Consule
• Grafting Plants (while this is not forbidden, it will kill the plant)
• Calculating the location of Eden

Dirtiness does not prevent you from accessing relevant terminals, but you cannot interact with their contents.

Dirty players are not forbidden from:

• Repairing PILGRED.
• Moving the ship with the Navigation terminal
• Accessing BIOS and changing NERON's settings
• Doing the thing
