Description:

A great classic of modern gastronomy on Sol. For 1 , you can create a spiked food by mixing a Spore and a consumable This action is Private but is detected by Myco-alarm The consumable can be filled with multiple spores Any transformation of the consumable (through cooking or freezing) destroys the spore(s) it contains. This does not affect fruit because freezing it does not transform it but simply applies the "frozen" status

1  1 Contaminate allows a spore to be placed into a consumable.

• This is a private action and is therefore not detected by cameras or crewmates, but it does set off Myco-alarms
• It is possible to mix several spores into a single consumable. With 3 spores inserted (or 4 if the Mushroom Bacteria was researched), the conversion is instantaneous
• This action is not free with Chef points ()
• The Hygienist skill gives a 50% chance to resist all spores inserted into the consumable and a 50% chance to receive them all

If a crew member is converted in this way, their stomach will be instantly filled. The conversion will also apply the effects of the consumable: the crew member will benefit from the advantages (gaining Action Points, curing illness), AND any potential disadvantages (such as contracting an illness or food poisoning)

Advice

• Cooking a standard ration , or hyperfreezing a cooked ration or an alien steak destroys all the spores it contains
  • Warning: Cooking is the only way possible to remove spores from a consumable
  • A contaminated consumable can be consumed by Chun, otherwise you must wait for it to spoil and be destroyed
• Humans are often wary of Daedalus staple foods, such as cooked rations, standard rations, bananas, or coffee. But they are much less wary of alien fruits or steaks brought back from an expedition
• You can prepare a standard spiked ration, 1  Freezean alien steak brought back from an expedition and replace the standard ration you obtain with your spiked ration
