Icon This message appears when a player becomes dirty. It is always private.

Dirtiness is a status commonly caused by taking certain actions. It is represented with a public icon: Dirty.

Protection

Wearing the Stainproof Apron Apron or having the OCDOCD skill generally prevents you from getting dirty (with a few exceptions).

Causes

The following events have a chance of making you dirty according to a defined probability.[1]

The Stainproof Apron Apron and the OCDOCD skill prevent dirtiness in all of the following cases.

Eating
  • Cook: 25%
  • Express Cook: 5%
  • Taking Coffee Coffee from the the Coffee Machine: 5%
  • Consuming any consumable (ration, coffee, drugs…): 15%
Combat
  • Attacking with bare hands: 25%
  • Attacking with the Knife Knife: 25%
  • Torturing (with TorturerTorturer): 15%
  • Operating on a serious injury: 25%
  • Using the Spore Sucker Spore Sucker: 25%
Maintenance
  • Sabotage: 25%
  • Sabotage a door (DoormanDoorman): 25%
  • Repair: 25% (even if the attempt fails)
  • Dismantle: 25%
  • Assemble a Blueprint Blueprint: 25%
  • Upgrade a Support Drone Drone: 25%
  • Remove a Camera Camera: 5%
  • Install a Camera Camera: 10%
  • Reinforce equipment: 50%
  • Renovate a Patroller: 25%
  • Snoop (ScrapperScrapper): 50%
Healing
  • Self-heal with bandages: 5%
  • Heal: 5%

Gardening
  • Water: 15%

Participation

The Stainproof Apron Apron and the OCDOCD skill do not protect against dirtiness caused by the following actions:

Getting Clean

A Shower

The only way to remove dirtiness is to Action Point Shower in the Dorms.

Consequences

Due to security concerns, NERON forbids dirty players from:

  • Working on Research
  • Working on NERON Projects
  • Analyzing planets at the AstroTerminal
  • Using the Communications Consule
  • Grafting Plants (while this is not forbidden, it will kill the plant)
  • Calculating the location of Eden
Dirtiness does not prevent you from accessing relevant terminals, but you cannot interact with their contents.

Dirty players are not forbidden from:
