"Frieda is Humanity's most experienced astrophysicist. Her life's work has been discovering new planets and systems. She was born over 1000 years ago and is a true survivor!"
Summary
Frieda is primarily in charge of planet scans, and thus is typically part of the bridge crew along with
Paola and
Jin Su. Knowing which planets to scan and which zones to look for (and which to avoid) is especially important for keeping the crew alive. She is also an accomplished explorer, and she may become a regular part of the expedition crew.
| Born in the 21st Century, she has over 45 years of experience in cross-system navigation. While she was studying, she proved the existence of Shapiro's slingshot effect. Woken from cryosleep in the 31st Century, her work on locating celestial bodies had already been most useful to great explorers such as GL Maubrick and Kim Jin-Su. Despite having retired to Bavaria, she is called to Xyloph-17 to serve as the navigator of the Daedalus. | |

Tips
- Stay on the Bridge with
Paola to benefit from her
Logistics Expert bonus. You should generally let her have the sofa (assuming it's built on the Bridge) so that both of you can gain 2
every cycle. - You may want to save a slot for
Pilot in case pilots become rare.
Skill Notes
Astrophysicist is essential for Frieda, as Astrophysics is her main job aboard the ship. Without it, you are relegated to being a worse
Hua. Take it!
Pilot will allow you to help defend the ship from Hunters, or to launch the Icarus to planets. Very useful when combined with Survivalist. However, piloting is a very
-intensive activity, and it may distract from your main job of planet-scanning. It may be better left to capable characters like
Roland or
Terrence unless there is an emergency.
IT Expert gives you the equivalent of 4
/day, useful for a wide variety of tasks. It also makes it easier to use the
Hacker Kit when dealing with an uncooperative commander. Combines very well with Astrophysicist.
Survivalist allows you to help out more on expeditions, but it is overall more situational (and thus less useful) than the prior three skills.
Radio Expert is only helpful for helping to establish Communications. Once a reliable signal has been established, this skill becomes pretty useless, so you may want to pass on it. However, it might be worth taking if
Paola is struggling to finish her work quickly due to lost connections.
Antique Perfume is very situational and pretty useless, as Frieda shouldn't need to shower often and
Chun is generally better at removing spores around the ship. Skip it.
Recommendations:
Astrophysicist /
IT Expert /
Radio Expert makes Frieda a powerhouse on the Bridge. Stick with
Paola and make planet-scanning your full-time job!
Astrophysicist /
IT Expert /
Pilot retains most of Frieda's Bridge utility while also allowing her to fly the Pasiphae or Icarus should no one else be available.
Astrophysicist /
Pilot /
Survivalist is a more expedition-focused build that makes her quite useful when she's not actively scanning for planets.
If Mush
Frieda is tricky to play as a
Mush, since her main job requires her to stay clean and on the Bridge. However, her skillset makes her more flexible than
Paola, as she may have good reason to go to the Laboratory, Nexus, and Icarus Bay.
- If you stay on the bridge with
Paola and her Logistics, you'll have a guaranteed 2
per cycle. Make sure other crewmates don't hang around to steal your
!
- Or, if Paola lacks
Logistics Expert, you'll have a good excuse to take a bed in a Dormitory.
- Or, if Paola lacks
- You may be able to get away with being dirty by eating food or by going on expeditions.
- Explore other ways to sabotage the human team:
- Is the Daedalus low on oxygen? Pretend you can't find a planet with it, leaving the ship starved and vulnerable to a sudden attack.
- For example, you could steal the last
Oxygen Capsule after using
Saboteur on the tanks, then taking refuge with them in the Pasiphae.
- For example, you could steal the last
- If you participate in expeditions, you can sabotage them with
Traitor to trigger bad results or to prevent
Oxygen collection.
- You could also try to send the humans to dangerous planets (e.g. planets with a
Mankarog) by falsifying your Astrophysics results, though anyone who bothers to double-check your work will quickly catch you out.
- You could also try to send the humans to dangerous planets (e.g. planets with a

- You can always be passively helpful to your team by taking skills like
Mycelium Spirit and
Anonymush.
