Although rather simple, gardening is essential to the ship's self-sufficiency, helping to maintain oxygen, food, and morale.
- It is recommended to take care of the plants on cycle 8 because most of the effects are triggered at the change of day
- The activities are messy, so wearing a
Apron is recommended
Create a Plant
Dirty: both of these actions are messy.
It is possible to create a new plant using the following actions:
a fruit.
- An empty
Hydropot must be present on the shelf - The fruit and the
Hydropot are then converted into the corresponding Young Plant
a fruit on an existing plant. This avoids having to wait for the plant to die before retrieving the pot and planting something else in its' place.
- A piece of fruit must be present in the inventory
- If successful, the plant and fruit are converted into a Young Plant
(age 1) of the fruit used - If it fails, the plant dies and the fruit is lost
Warning: Grafting will fail if you are dirty
, or if the plant is diseased
, thirsty
, or dried out
The status of the fruit or the fact that it carries a disease does not affect the grafting.
| Killing a plant by a failed graft and then sowing can be faster and cheaper than maintaining the space for grafting, in addition to not requiring cleanliness |
Production
Each plant produces at the change of day, unless it is a Young Plant
, Diseased
or Dried Out
:
- One unit of oxygen
, directly added to the reserves. - 1 fruit
of its kind unless it is thirsty
Info: A plant in the garden with
heat lamps has a one in two chance of producing an additional fruit
The exact order for the change of day is:
- It becomes an adult when it reaches its maturity age. A plant sown in cycle 1 and requiring 8 cycles to mature will be an adult and will produce from the very next day's cycle 1.
- Produced if the individual is an adult and in good health.
- It dries out and can eventually become diseased . So getting sick at this point does not prevent production.
Even when hidden, plants produce fruit and oxygen if they meet the above conditions.
Dead
A plant can die if it is not watered for 2 days or if a graft fails.
- When a plant dies, it leaves an empty
Hydropot - A plant can also be destroyed by fire and will leave its
Hydropot
It is therefore recommended to keep the plants on crew members when fires become frequent.
Features
Only a
Botanist,
Chef, or
Mush can see the effects of a fruit.
Botanists can also see the remaining maturation time of plants and receive 2 Gardening Points
per day.
"This plant is young. It will not produce oxygen or fruit until it ripens."
Every new plant starts with the Young Plant
status and two attributes:
