Tips
- Your research prowess makes you vital for completing researches after Mush selection. Stick around the Laboratory and coordinate with your crewmates (especially researchers like
Ian, or tech-savvy characters like
Frieda and
Janice) to have them relay you. - Finola should never be far from the
Apron, as her
Germaphobe trait makes dirtiness dangerous to her
. Remember to drop the apron when you're done using it! - Consider taking the bed in the Medlab for yourself.
Skill Notes
| Finola is expected to take at least one research skill; otherwise, the lack of a dedicated researcher could be detrimental to the crew! |
Biologist is useful for researching, though its main utility is that it stacks with Medic.
Medic is useful both for researching and for healing the crew. If you're making a choice between this and Biologist, take this.
Nurse will help you heal the crew (and yourself) with its free
actions, though unlike Medic, it doesn't help with research.
Diplomat is very important on expeditions, as it helps guarantee good results in certain zones. It is especially good when searching for Eden, as it increases the chances of finding a
Starmap Fragment in Crystalite zones. Finally, your ceasefire ability can be an excellent defense against a rampaging
Mush.
OCD can generally be skipped so long as the
Apron is consistently available to you. Were something to happen to it, though, this might come in handy.
Recommendations:
Biologist /
Medic will turn you into a research powerhouse, finishing anti-Mush projects in no time at all.
Medic /
Nurse will make you very effective at healing the crew, which becomes invaluable during long-running ships.- For your third skill, consider
Diplomat if
Janice is unable to take it, or
OCD if the apron goes missing.
If Mush
Finola is a difficult character to play as a
Mush, because she has few good reasons to get
Dirty (similar to
Paola). However, she still has options available to her:
- As the ship's primary scientist, you can significantly slow down the pace of research by not doing your job when it's needed. (However, doing too little will likely make the crew extremely suspicious.)
- Healing has a small chance to get characters dirty. Use this to your advantage to extract
s.
- Obviously, don't take
OCD, or you'll have no excuse whatsoever to get dirty!
- Obviously, don't take
- Use
Fungal Kitchen to infect pills and fruits in the lab. - If you're caught, you can use
Diplomat's Ceasefire action to protect yourself and your colleagues for three cycles.
