"An astrophysicist and the ship's designer, Kuan Ti knows it like the back of his hand and has privileged access to NERON. If a Nexus project is underway, you can be sure he is involved!"
Summary
Kuan Ti's stated role is to ensure the successful completion of NERON projects. However, he can potentially participate in a wide variety of activities across the ship, as he's able to do repairs, improve morale, search for planets, and even take the place of the Commander!
| Kuan Ti is one of the two designers of the Daedalus. He paid no attention whatsoever to the existence of Mush on Tau-Ceti until Eleesha Williams told him of the advanced stage of propagation of mycelium within the Sol system. Kuan Ti, Raluca and Jin Su decide to move the launch of the Magellan program forward by 8 years before the Federation can put an end to it. | |

Tips
- Kuan Ti's playstyle can vary greatly based on the skills he takes. You could be expected in the Nexus, in the Bridge, or around the ship to repair items and cheer up the crew. Try to communicate with your crewmates to determine who's active and what skills are already well-covered, then fill in the gaps as needed.
- It may be wise to save 1-2 of your skill slots until later in the game so you can adapt as events unfold.
- If you take
Designer, coordinate with other Nexus regulars (like
Janice and
Raluca) to relay projects. Make sure you consult with the entire crew before deciding which project to move forward with.
Skill Notes
Designer lets you earn
points for Project participation, saving up to 4
per day. Very helpful for completing more projects in a short amount of time.
The Optimist is a very selfish and situational choice, and it likely won't be appreciated by the crew.
Astrophysicist lets you support
Frieda in her search for planets. Becomes very useful in the early-game hunt for oxygen, and even more useful in the late-game hunt for Eden.
Technician allows you to help both with repairs, and with fixing PILGRED once the Mush hunt is over. This makes it one of Kuan Ti's most useful skills.
Leader will be appreciated by the crew, especially if
Janice is unable to do her job.
Politician is a very situational and controversial skill. It allows you to steal the title of
Commander, which can be handy if the current one is
Mush,
Inactive, or otherwise incompetent. However, other crewmates will become very suspicious if they see you take this skill without good reason.
If Mush
- Kuan Ti is generally expected to stay clean, as his main workstations (the Nexus and AstroTerminal) lock out
Dirty characters. However, taking
Technician may give you excuses to become dirty as you repair or build items around the ship. - Your skill versatility is one of your greatest strengths. You can dismantle important objects as a
Technician, find bad planets as an
Astrophysicist, or disguise your lack of
with the free actions provided by
Designer. - Try using
Trapper in the Nexus, or directly infect people there when they come to relay you. Just make sure you don't get caught by a hidden
Myco-alarm! - If you get the chance, you could use
Politician to take command and move the ship, killing anyone who is on an expedition or in a patrol ship. It's even better than the
Hacker Kit!
- Title changes come with a ship-wide NERON announcement, so it's impossible to do this sneakily. Be ready for reprisals if you decide to do this.
- Be aware that careful crews will time expeditions to avoid overlapping with cycle changes. Since
Politician only takes effect the cycle after it's used, you could be left in the dust...
