"A born leader, Jin Su is the supreme commander of the Daedalus. He is in charge of piloting the ship. - Towards planets for expeditions and, most importantly, towards Eden."

Summary

The commander of the Daedalus bears a great responsibility. Jin Su is charged with coordinating the crew, leading expeditions, and being available to move the ship whenever it's needed. His skillset is fairly versatile, making him a potential source of morale and an excellent hunter of Hunters.

Jin Su started exploring at a young age, on research missions on Barnard Star. He was quickly promoted to the rank of Commander and was placed in charge of important missions on Ross 154 and Epsilon Indi. Jin Su's discovery of multiple Boxylium deposits on Tau-ceti made him an instant interplanetary celebrity. In 3146 the Federation named him as Executive Commander of the Magellan project. Following the Mush invasion of Sol, he drew up the plans for the Daedalus with Lai Kuan Ti, and assembled an elite crew to ensure the survival of the human race in another galaxy.

ShooterShooter Gain 2 Free Shot per day, usable with any firearm (including turrets and fighter ships). Increases your chances of landing critical hits and reduces your chances of critical failures. Yes
Logistics ExpertLogistics Expert On cycle change, 1 Action Point is distributed to a random crewmate in your room. Yes
StrateguruStrateguru 50% chance of reducing each wave of Hunters by 33%. Yes

Tips

  • By default, you start as the Commander of the Daedalus. This is a pretty demanding role because your crew relies on you to move the ship using the Command Terminal. Prolonged inactivity can be fatal! Be certain that you can be frequently available, and let the crew know if you'll need to go offline.
    • As Commander, you can spend 1 Action Point to send a mission to a crewmate, which grants them 3 Action Point when accepted. Coordinate with your teammates to figure out who needs that AP the most. Try not to use it too early in the day, and make sure you give it to someone you trust (with Icon Chun being a safe choice).
    • You will be expected to attend Expeditions until the mush hunt ends; if you don't go, a sneaky Icon Mush could TransferTransfer into your body, then move the ship to kill everyone on the planet. Make sure the Hacker Kit Hacker Kit is accounted for and hidden before you leave, or you could end up meeting the same fate!
  • Though you will often be expected on the Bridge, keep in mind that other crewmates may want to stay there to benefit from Icon Paola's Logistics ExpertLogistics Expert bonus. Try not to steal it from them!
  • If you've taken LeaderLeader, schedule speeches in specified rooms so as many people can benefit as possible.

Skill Notes

  • LeaderLeader is generally appreciated by the crew, especially if Icon Janice isn't able to do her job. Just make sure that you have some way to get morale yourself...
  • PilotPilot allows you to help defend the ship, and is very useful for launching expeditions (which you will be expected to attend anyway). Very useful when combined with Shooter. Remember that piloting consumes a lot of Action Point, so you should take a bed in the dorms if you have this skill.
  • Cold BloodedCold Blooded is rarely used, for good reason. Icon Mush players can't benefit from it, and the bonus isn't especially good for human ones; you might as well just go eat a ration.
  • ShooterShooter is very helpful, both for defending the Daedalus, and for defending yourself if the Icon Mush attack! Try to get your hands on a Blaster Blaster.
  • Logistics ExpertLogistics Expert is considered a must-pick, as it is very useful for boosting your teammates, regardless of your location.
  • StrateguruStrateguru might not seem great in the first few days, but it quickly becomes invaluable on long-term ships as the waves of Hunters grow larger and larger. Still, a diligent enough player may be able to outrun the hunters by consistently moving the ship, making this skill largely irrelevant.

If Mush

  • Although being a PilotPilot is very Action Point-intensive, it gives you a good reason to take a bed. You can also take the opportunity to use TrapperTrapper to infect other pilots who use the launch bays.
  • If you take LeaderLeader, you could gather people into a single room for a speech, then take advantage of the crowd to cause massive confusion with appropriate skills (like NinjaNinja, DefacerDefacer, or just throwing a Grenade Grenade). Coordinate with your partner for maximum effect!
  • Find good reasons to send your mission to your Mush partner instead of more "important" crewmates (but don't do this so often that people grow suspicious).
  • Use your important role aboard the ship to disrupt the human team with poor decision-making. Disrupt conversations, cause disorganization and paranoia, argue about Projects, and delay moving the ship by pretending to be offline.
    • Again, don't do this so often that people decide a dead commander is better than a live one...
    • Be wary of Icon Kuan Ti: his PoliticianPolitician skill can steal your title right out from under your nose!
